Bearings with electrified insulation coating
Prevent electrical corrosion and improve the reliability of railway bearings
In most applications in the railway industry, harmful high-frequency stray currents are inevitably present. When current passes through rolling bearings, it poses a threat to the reliability of the machine. Electric corrosion may damage bearings in traction motors, electric motors, and generators and degrade their performance, resulting in costly shutdowns and unplanned maintenance.

Bearings with electrically insulated coatings are a highly cost-effective solution designed to provide high levels of reliability and normal operating time in electrical applications. The sealing protective coating on the outer or inner ring adds insulation performance to the bearing, thereby protecting it from harsh or even humid environments.
We used a precise plasma spraying process to coat the aluminum oxide insulation layer. There are two types of coatings to choose from: standard coating and advanced coating. The minimum resistance provided by the standard layer is 200 [M Ω], while the advanced layer reaches 400 [M Ω].
VL0241 and VL0246 are ideal choices for small and heavy-duty traction motors:
Its design is based on cylindrical roller bearings and deep groove ball bearings.
The outer surface of the outer ring is electrically insulated through an alumina coating
VL0241 standard layer 200 [M Ω]; VL0246 Advanced Layer 400 [M Ω]
INSOCOAT VL2071 and VL2076 are perfect for larger traction motors:
Aluminum oxide coating applied to the outer surface of the inner ring: holes, chamfers, and end faces
Due to the small surface area of the coating, the capacitance is reduced
Improved electrical impedance
Compared to the coating outer ring design VL0241, the electrical insulation characteristics have been improved
VL2071 standard layer 200 [M Ω]; VL2076 Advanced Layer 400 [M Ω]
